“Truth or Hair”

I’m sure you have seen by now, Olay’s new two-step hair removal commercial and only one word can sum it up… intriguing.

So I took the dare, and gave this new wonder kit a whirl. But first, I had to get over the sticker shock. Whoa now, $30 is a lot to spend on this type of product. But, that TV commercial convinced me enough to purchase, I just better get more than one use out of it.

Just as the commercial says, you start by applying the balm. Literally, it looks and feels like a lip balm. Then you massage the thin layer into your skin for 20-seconds. Next apply the hair removal, balm. Warning it does not go on as perfectly as it does on the commercial, but is still easy to apply. Leave on for 6-8 minutes depending on your hair thickness. Then remove with a cotton ball or tissue, then rinse remaining with warm water. This hair remover can be used on both your upper lip and chin areas.

Olay Smooth Finish Hair Removal Duo

So does it work?? It sure does! hair is easily removed. But thicker hair was definitely harder to remove, I did have to pluck a few strays.  However, I can’t help but think this is the exact same product as Nair, but 5 times the price. Nair does have a duo as well, but the moisturizer goes on after the treatment.

Once I run out of this $30 treatment, I’ll scoop up the cheap brand and see how it compares and get back to you. Olay does claim you can get up to 12 uses in one box, which comes out to $2.50 per use – not too bad consider how much it costs to wax or thread. Plus it is pain-free!
